United Way of Greater Williamsburg thanks everyone involved with the 19th Annual Day of Caring.  Each year, this is a unique opportunity for your company to complete a meaningful service project for a local nonprofit agency or an area resident who needs a hand.

The Day of Caring Rally and Campaign Kick Off started at 7:30 am at the Historic Triangle Community Service Building in Alex Kuras Hall (center room.) Volunteers were spoiled with donations of coffee and food as well as healthy snacks to take to their project sites.

Everyone got to mingle with their fellow workers and had their company team pictures taken outside on the lawn before heading off to their project sites at 9 am.

Volunteers receive their 2011 Day of Caring shirt (sponsored by Chesapeake Bank, Next Door Neighbors Magazine, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and Walmart Logistics).  Healthy snacks and water was given out as volunteers left for their projects.  All companies were encouraged to bring a banner to hold for their photos to show their corporate involvement.

Day of Caring exemplifies Living United when business partners join with local civic and community groups to connect with others in Greater Williamsburg who need help.

There are so many benefits to your company uniting with our community on Day of Caring.  Through your involvement, you and your team are able to assist an agency or a neighbor with a project that would not normally be completed for lack of money or manpower.  Projects can include a facility work project, office help, or providing an activity such as story time or a craft project.

When you build a team of committed volunteers within your company to serve, you show a spirit of compassion and unity to your customers that reflects in the mission of our company.

Together, united, we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.
