2003/2004 CRUIKSHANK AWARD

In 1993, the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Williamsburg established the Cruikshank Award. It has become an annual presentation to an individual volunteer or community volunteer group that has:

· Demonstrated initiative;
· Addressed a community need; and
· Developed a program that enhanced the quality of life in the Greater Williamsburg area.

Past recipients of the award are Angels of Mercy, SANE Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, CASA Volunteers, the Respite Day Care Program, Don Messmer for the Community Services Building, the Olde Towne Medical Clinic, the Neighborhood Connections, Karen Schifrin for the After-prom party at Lafayette High School, The Buffalo Boyz, All Together and Pete Cruikshank for United Way’s Information and Referral Program.

We are encouraging you to submit nominations for this year's award. Please complete the enclosed form describing how your candidate(s) has/have achieved the criteria outlined above. You may provide any additional information relevant to the award.

Please submit your nominations by 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2004, to United Way of Greater Williamsburg, 312 Waller Mill Road, Suite 100, Williamsburg, VA 23185, Attn. Zena Myall. Nominations also may be faxed to 253-2837. The award will be presented at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Williamsburg on February 26, 2004
