Volunteers . . . put the pieces of the community together . . . that's what matters! Our 14th annual Day of Caring was held on September 8, 2005. The day begin at Great Wolf Lodge. Volunteers gathered and enjoy donuts from Krispy Kreme and Farm Fresh, bagels from Big Apple Bagel and coffee from Starbucks, picked up their t-shirts, had their team photos taken with the Great Wolf Mascots, picked up a healthy snack bag from the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation and received a "way to go" motivation from Vickie Tucker, Day of Caring Chair, and from Mike Maddocks, Campaign Chair. As a special treat, all volunteers were invited inside the water park for a special little treat - a "water dump" on members of the Day of Caring Committee and the 2005 Campaign Cabinet, Curtis Brown, General Manager of the Great Wolf Lodge, also joined the group under the big bucket of water that dumps every 5 minutes. Then the volunteers headed off to their project sites. At 5:00pm volunteers gathered back at the Historic Triangle Community Service Building to share their day's experiences and enjoyed a dinner provided in-kind by Outback Steak House and dessert from Ben& Jerry's. There was a program to close the day's activities and the 2005 campaign was kicked off with the announcement of the amount raised by the Pacesetters - $425,000, and the announcement of the 2005 Campaign Goal - $1,700,000.00.
