In August, 2006, The National Sloval Society held a conference in Williamsburg and one of the days of their conference they designated to helping out in the community. Their group of over 100 members was divided in 2 and half went to Grove Christian Outreach Center to help out in the Grove community and half went to Hope House to begin the renovation process of a temporary women's shelter. |
In May, 2005, employees from Pfizer visited the Williamsburg area for a conference and spent one day working in the community on some yard work projects for United Way's Information and Referral office and also for Housing Partnerships - we send our sincere thanks to them for their help! |
In March of 2004, the University of Tennessee and Team VOLS visited the Williamsburg area for their Spring Break. They worked on a number of community projects in the area for various non profit agencies including Red Cross, Faith in Action, Avalon, JCC Parks and Rec, CDR, Camp Skimino (Girl Scout Camp) plus more. They helped with storm debris clean up (from Hurricane Isabel), storage unit clean up, yard work, painting, cleaning and more!! These 26 phenomenal students donated over 800 hours of community service in one week. (They did get a little time to enjoy the area also!) |
