Offers: Child advocacy services to children who have been abused and/or neglected. The youth are appointed a CASA volunteer by the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court Judge. Volunteers must complete a written application and are needed to provide the advocacy services to the youth. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and pass a Criminal History Background Check, as well as the Child Protective Services Central Registry Search. They must also complete a 36-hour training course successfully and then they become eligible for matches with youth. Volunteers advocate by investigating the case and providing a written report to the judge for each court hearing involved in the case. In that report, they state the facts of case, provide an assessment of the youth’s situation, and make recommendations to the Judge.

Delivery time varies according to the number of meals ordered for the day. Home delivered meals are made available to all residents over the age of 18 in James City County, the City of Williamsburg & the Bruton District of York County. Fee: $3.50 per meal for those recipients able to pay for their meals. Billing is done on a monthly basis. For those recipients who can only afford to pay a portion, a sliding scale is used. We seek contributions from individuals, churches, clubs and organizations in the community, as well as PAA (Peninsula Agency on Aging), to help those individuals who cannot contribute toward the cost of their meals |

Adults are needed as foster parents. Foster parents are required to provide caring, compassionate, and nurturing homes for temporary foster care of the infants and toddlers that Children’s Home Society of Virginia has in temporary custody. There is a special demand for African-American foster parents, as well as any adults who could care for “special needs” babies (some have medical conditions that require additional attention). Offers: The Foster Grandparent Program is a national senior volunteer program that was created by the Federal government in 1965.The Hampton Foster Grandparent program was established in 1972 and serves the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, York and James City Counties. Offers: Virginia Cooperative Extension responds to the needs of individuals, families, groups and organizations with education programs in the three broad areas of agriculture and natural resources (ANR), family and consumer sciences (FCS), and 4-H youth development (4-H). helping people to solve their own problems through education programs is our business. Our help is found in our workshops, seminars and demonstrations, over the phone, in our research-based publications, radio and TV programs, 4-H clubs and programs for youth, and satellite broadcasts and interactive computer programs to reach people in their homes, workplaces and local communities. The office is currently staffed with a FCS agent and a 4-H agent, as well as a Smart Choices Nutrition Education Program Assistant and a Housing Technician. |
